Privacy

Every calculator and generator works without an account, and nothing you type into one is kept while you are simply using it. Work you save stays in your own browser rather than with us. You can use the whole site, indefinitely, without telling us who you are.

Downloading a finished file, or sharing a plate as a link, asks for an email address. Those two are the only things on this page that store anything about you.

Exporting a PDF, SVG or print sheet asks you to sign in with an email address. There is no password: we email you a six-digit code, and entering it proves the address is yours. When you do that, we store:

• Your email address, which is your account.
• The IP address you signed in from, to limit abuse of the sign-in form and to record when and where you agreed to receive email from us.
• Whether you asked us to email you about tool updates, the date you asked, and the exact wording of the checkbox you were agreeing to. We record the wording because a box that says one thing this year and something else the next is not the same permission, and we would rather be able to tell you which one you gave.
• Your answers to the two optional questions shown while your code is on its way. Skipping them costs you nothing.
• A record of each file you export: which tool, which format, and the settings it was generated from. This tells us which tools are worth improving.

Sharing a plate as a link asks you to sign in the same way. If you share one, we store the plate’s settings under a random link id, together with which account created it. A plate holds no personal information, and sharing is not a download: it is not added to the record of files you exported.

We measure page visits with Umami, running on an instance we operate rather than handing your visits to an analytics company. It does not use cookies, does not follow you between sites, and does not build a profile of you. That is the reason this site has never asked you to accept anything.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we have never sold personal information to anybody.

Running the site means a handful of companies necessarily touch it:

• Vercel hosts the site.
• Neon stores the database your account lives in.
• Resend delivers your sign-in code.
• Sentry receives a report when something on the site breaks: the error, the page it happened on, your browser’s name and version, and what the page was doing just before. We do not ask it to keep your IP address, and a report never contains your email or a plate.
• PikaPods hosts the analytics instance described above. We run the software; they run the machine it sits on.
• AWeber sends the tool update emails. If you ticked the box, your address and the IP and date of that opt-in are added to a list there used for nothing but these tools, where they are held under AWeber’s privacy policy and data processing terms. That list is separate from any other list we run, and addresses are added to it only from the checkbox on this site. Nobody who left the box unticked is on it.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and that link is the fastest way out. It takes effect immediately and needs nothing from us.

If you would rather not hunt for it, email tools@coldbrewjewelry.com and we will take you off the list. Unsubscribing stops the update emails; it does not by itself delete your account, which is the next section. It also does not affect your sign-in codes, which are not marketing and are sent because you asked for a file.

We keep your account information for as long as the account exists. We have not built anything that expires it on a schedule, and we would rather say so than describe a deletion process that does not run.

So deletion is on request, and the request is honored. Email tools@coldbrewjewelry.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete your account, your survey answers, your export history and the IP we recorded, and remove you from the update list. Ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you. Ask us to correct something and we will.

Shared plates are public to anyone with the link, and they are kept after an account is deleted, because the link may have been passed on to people who never had an account. Deleting your account unlinks them from you. If you want a specific shared plate removed, email us its link and we will delete it.

The site is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed there by the companies listed above. If you are visiting from elsewhere, including the EU or the UK, using the sign-in means your information is handled in the United States.

We ask for your email because you asked for a file, and we email you about tool updates only because you ticked a box saying we could. The box is never ticked for you. You can withdraw that at any time using the unsubscribe link, and you can have everything deleted by emailing us. We keep the IP address to stop the sign-in form being abused, which is the one thing here we do because we have to rather than because you asked.

This site is meant for people making jewelry, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes get posted here with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects what we do with information we already hold, we will email the people who asked to hear from us rather than quietly editing this page.
